AKS WORKERS SET TO MARK 2024 INT’L PUBLIC SERVICE WEEK

Akwa Ibom State workers are set to join their counterparts worldwide to mark the 2024 Public Service Week Celebration with the theme, “Stay Forward Looking…Make a Difference”.

According to the Akwa Ibom State Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, the celebration of the Public Service Week scheduled to hold from Monday 17th to Sunday, 23rd June, 2024, follows the approval by the State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, for the marking of this global event in the State,10 years since it was last celebrated in 2014.

Activities lined-up for the successful celebration of the weeklong event in the State include: a Novelty Football Match between Permanent Secretaries and Directors on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Football Pitch by 4pm, Public Lecture on the theme, “Stay Forward Looking – Make a Difference”,  at  the Civil Service Auditorium, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo, on Thursday, 20th June, 2024 by 9am and a Road Walk on Saturday, 22nd June, 2024,  to be led by the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, from Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo, by 7.am, to Unity Park, Udo Udoma Avenue, where series of aerobics shall be observed to keep the workers fit for optimal productivity.


The weeklong event will be climaxed with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 23rd June, 2024, at the International Christian Worship Centre, Udo Udoma Avenue Uyo, by 1pm.

Accordingly, all workers in the State are requested to turn out enmasse for the Thanksgiving Service to thank God for His grace upon their lives, the State and the Workers-friendly Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, who is expected to attend the Thanksgiving Service as a Special Guest of Honour.

In a Call Letter signed by the Head of Civil Service and made available by the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2024 Public Service Week and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Dr Valerie Obot, all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments are requested to ensure attendance and active participation in all activities of the week by workers in their different MDAs.

It should be noted that, June 23rd is a date set aside by the United Nations, as International  Public Service Day to  acknowledge and celebrate workers for their value added to the development of the society.
