Beauty Queens in Akwa Ibom State, under the aegies of Association of Beauty Queens and Kings, Nigeria, have congratulated the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Grace Akpan, on her appointment and solicited her support and mentorship for budding stars aspiring to become Queens in different pageantries.

The Association made this known during a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary recently in her office at Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo.

Speaking through the National President of the Association, Ambassador Ukeme Michael, the Queens and Kings expressed delight on the appointment and subsequent posting of Mrs. Grace Akpan as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which supervises all activities relating to pageantry and solicited for support especially in the area of mentorship.

Ambassador Ukeme Michael intimated the Permanent Secretary that, the leadership of the Association was undertaking a transformation drive to sanitize the body and enthrone discipline, integrity and spirit of enterprise among the Queens and Kings, noting with pride that, the present Queens in the National Executive are all entrepreneurial-drive.

In her response, the Permanent Secretary, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Grace Akpan, expressed appreciation to the Association for the Courtesy visit and commended the entrepreneurial spirit of the Queens which she said, will keep them gainfully employed with a sense of dignity in labour.

She lauded the initiatives of the National Executives geared at instilling discipline and hardwork among the Queens and Kings and pledged her support and indeed that of the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh and the entire Ministry at large.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a beautifully moulded commemorative plaque to the Permanent Secretary by the Association.

Among the visiting team members included: Queen Oto- Obong Archibong – State Co- ordinator, King Lawrence Ndonpuko, Branch Co-ordinator, Oro Nation Branch of the Association of Beauty Queens and kings as well as Queen Etima Lawrence, Face of the Association, among others.
