… FOR MENTORSHIP ROLE FOR GIRLS, CHARGES THE ORGANIZATION TO INCLUDE BOY-CHILD IN ACTIVITIES

Mrs. Enobong Edidem, Wife of Deputy Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

 

The Coordinator, Office of the Governor’s Wife and SSA to the Governor, Mrs Helen Eno Obareki, has commended Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WimBiz, for facilitating the personal and professional growth of girls through the provision of guidance, support and knowledge transfer to aid them counter stereotypes and obstacles as well as set a roadmap for them to achieve their goals.

Mrs Obareki made the commendation during the 2024 Big Sister Program, organized by WimBiz which took place at Secondary school Etoi, Uyo, where the girls were drilled on skills and knowledge they need to build an improved and secured future.

Represented by the wife of the Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs Enobong Edidem, the Coordinator charged the girls to set goals and develop modalities to achieving the goals, through improving their academic achievements and personal development.

Mrs Obareki who was a co-sponsor of the 2024 Big Sister Programme Uyo, said her mother Pastor Patience Umo Eno, had created a legacy of impact through her Pet Project, the Golden Initiative for All, GIFA under 8 thematic areas, charging the girls to remain focused in developing their talents and potentials.

The Executive Director, WimBiz, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, noted that in the last twenty-three years of existence of WimBiz, the organization has inspired and empowered over three hundred and thirty thousand women and has worked hard to shape the future of girls to become responsible women with the right mindset and determination to explore their unique gifts and God’s given potentials.

In an interactive session, a Life member of WimBiz Dr. Inemesit Uwah, took the girls on Building Self Confidence, Interpersonal Relationship and Goal Setting, Ekeoma Chikadibia shed light on Career, Entrepreneurial Paths and Financial Literacy while Elizabeth Ogunshola dwelled on personal hygiene, Grooming and dealing with Peer Pressure.

The WimBiz 2024 Big Sister Program is co-sponsored by the Office of the First Lady Akwa Ibom State, NNPC, First Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Wema Bank, NBC and Junior Achievers Nigeria represented by Mr Unyime Akpan who expressed excitement over their collaboration with the organization in inspiring and preparing young people to succeed.

While welcoming the guests, the Principal of Secondary School Etoi, Mr. Joseph Bassey, expressed the hope that the students selected for the mentorship programme would record academic achievements and tangible results.

Certificates of participation were also presented to the girls.
