Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has announced a 7-day public holiday for workers, after cutting a cake at an end of the year occasion.
However, according to a Niger state government press release, the holiday is to commemorate the Christmas and New Year festivities And for families to celebrate together with loved ones.
“The government plans to distribute food items to government officials. The intention is for these officials to share the food among the less privileged individuals in their respective localities and wards during the holiday season,” said the press release.
