Govs on hot seat as FG declares: We will check palliatives distribution

It’s definitely not going to be business as usual, with the subsidy palliatives distribution.

So says the presidency, as the Federal Government moves to checkmate the distribution, by each of the 36 state governors!

“The Presidency will be on standby to monitor the distribution of palliatives, meant to cushion the impact of subsidy removal, to Nigerians at the state level,” said Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Ngelale, who spoke on a programme on Channels Television yesterday, went on to state that, monitoring, will be done by federal regulators.

Ngelale was referring to the Federal Government recently approved N5 billion for each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enable them to procure food items for distribution to the poor in their respective states, along with truck loads of rice.

He added that since the governors were elected by the people, the people in turn should also trust the governors to do the right thing!
