Harmonizing a Nation: Sound Sultan Memorial Symposium Leads the Path to Reconciliation

… and Healing Post-2023 Elections

The rhythmic beats of unity echoed through the Antarctica Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites as the inaugural Sound Sultan Memorial Symposium reverberated with a powerful message. Hosted by Sound Sultan Eternal, the event commemorated the legendary artist, Olanrewaju Fasasi, on the second anniversary of his passing. Held on July 12, 2023, the Symposium gathered influential voices to discuss the theme, “Fractured Bonds: Path to Reconciliation and Healing Post-2023 Elections,” in a harmonious dialogue.

In a gathering adorned with stars from the Nigerian entertainment industry, the Symposium unveiled an esteemed panel of luminaries who added their voices to the collective call for reconciliation. The renowned Reverend Sam Adeyemi took centre stage, delivering a captivating keynote address. Joining him were celebrated figures such as Chioma Chukwuka, Ayo Animashaun, Ali Baba, Okey Bakassi, and Hon. Desmond Elliot who were the panelists. Guiding the symphony of ideas was the seasoned OAP, Steve Onu, widely known as Yaw.

The virtual audience were not left out as the Sound Sultan Memorial Symposium was broadcasted via YouTube, Facebook, and Zoom, transcending boundaries and inviting a global audience to participate in this extraordinary event. The Symposium stands as the first in a series of commemorations honouring the legacy of Sound Sultan, whose music, theatre, and movies radiated patriotism and love for Nigeria throughout his illustrious career.

Notable guests, including Darey Art Alade, Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st, Rugged Man, Edi Lawani, Tomirin Falade, and K Wheelz, joined the symphony of personalities from the media and entertainment industry, lending their support to this momentous occasion.

Organized by the Sound Sultan Estate and expertly managed by Now Muzik, Nigeria’s premier talent management agency, the Symposium forms a crucial part of the activities commemorating the 2nd-year memorial of the music icon Sound Sultan, who tragically lost his battle with lymphoma on July 11, 2021, in the USA.
