Nigerian Caleb Ogundele elected ISOC Global BoT Member

It is good news for members of the Internet Society Nigerian Chapter, as Nigerian, Caleb Olumuyiwa Ogundele resigns as President of the body, to assume a new office, as ISOC Global BoT Member.

The move we learnt was actually effective on Wed, 14 Jun 2023 after fulfilling Section 6.5 (B) of ISOC Nigeria’s Constitution which required him to notify the Secretary-General and other members of the ISOC Executive Team of his intention to resign with a 3 months notice.

Caleb Ogundele in his parting message to the body, reflected, “It has been an incredible journey serving as your President, and I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and explain the reasons behind my decision to resign.

“On April 17, I  was officially announced as one of the winners of the recently concluded ISOC Global BoT elections for a 3-year term starting this 2023.

“Being elected as a member of the  ISOC Global Board of Trustees means i have to take a more global role and dedicate my volunteer time and efforts to the broader initiatives and responsibilities of the Internet Society. This new position requires me to prioritize and focus on global strategic matters that impact the Internet community and even our national chapter as a whole. In this case, I can’t serve as ISOC Nigeria Chapter President and hold another higher level of influence within the same structure as there will be a conflict of Interest. I believe this is the moral step to take which will ensure stability and smooth transition,” Ogundele stated.

He handed over to the Vice President of the Nigeria Chapter in person of Engr. Kunle Olorundare, in an acting capacity, to complete his term which will be in a few months from now.
