Our Amiable Governor Is 60! Akwa Ibomites Roll Out Drums To Celebrate Pastor Umo Eno

Akwa Ibom State has been in a happy frenzy all day! And that’s because the people’s governor, Pastor Umo Eno, His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is a year older!

The governor is 60! “The Golden boy” as his friends call him, has hit the diamond age! Its indeed the happy hour at this moment in Akwa ibom state. And wherever the indigenes of the state are, home and abroad, they are celebrating a man whose heart is truly dedicated to his people.

The celebration without a major extravagant and lavishness of money, actually started days ago, when the governor sent out his body language message that, there will be no pomp and pageantry celebration, except cordial greetings and felicitations and visits to less privileged homes!

But where does that happen, especially, when the celebrant is well loved?

Body language or not, Governor Umo Eno has been well celebrated today with lavish endearments and happy hour moments!

Ahead of his 60th birthday today, Governor Umo Eno had announced that there would be no need for flamboyant public greetings for him in newspapers or television stations, and neither would he accept birthday gifts.

He urged all his friends, to forward all the money and gifts meant for him to the underprivileged and vulnerable persons in orphanages and villages, and forward the pictures to him.

“The best birthday gift you may give me would be a visit to orphanages and homes of the vulnerables with food items or any other items that may make their lives more meaningful. You should take pictures with them and give them good cheers, then forward the pictures to me. These pictures would be made into a Birthday Album and would be better appreciated by me, than newspaper advertorials”, the governor had said..

And that exactly is how the celebrations has been carried out.

The Governor himself celebrated with the less privileged..

At various places and different local governments, celebration took place with the less privileged.

In Nsit Atai Local Government for instance, the transition committee Chairman Hon. Emem Ibanga, mobilized the physically challenged in the area to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

At the event which took place at the Council Secretariat, Hon Emem Ibanga pointed out that the celebration is anchored on the instruction of the governor who made public his preference for a low keyed celebration with the vulnerable and physically challenged.

The Governor’s low key birthday celebration today, has also created an opportunity for 5000 students to benefit from a scholarship programme granted them, by Enobong Uwah Foundation and many more of such give-aways, still taking place around the different parts of the state, as we file in this report.

Earlier in the  day, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, joined his colleagues, led by Dean of Commissioners/ Honourable commissioner Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, at the children special Home, IBB, Uyo.

Assorted foodstuffs and beverages were shared to the children, who were encouraged to share love and care for others as demonstrated by the Governor.

Also, joining in the celebration, Parallax Bank like many other organizations, celebrated Gov. Umo Eno’s 60th Birthday with donation to Inclusive School. The bank officials visited St. Louis’ Inclusive School, a special institution catering to pupils with disabilities, including the deaf and dumb, and donated, food items to the students as part of the celebrations.

The Managing Director, Dr. Femi Bakre, said, the bank is joining in celebrating the life and leadership of His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno.

The real main beneficiaries of the day, may have been more of the less privileged class, but in Akwa Ibom State, it has all added up to a beautiful day and moment for the governor, the government and the people of the state, as every Akwa Ibomite has felt a part of the happy hour moment of celebration of a happy able governor, who identifies with his people and their various needs.
