United Nations Joins African Union to Host Africa Celebrates 2024

In an exciting development, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has officially joined forces with the African Union (AU) to co-host Africa Celebrates 2024 scheduled for 6 – 10 November. Legendary Gold Limited, the event organizers, proudly announced this groundbreaking collaboration, marking a significant milestone for Africa’s largest pan-African cultural, economic, and social festival.

UNECA’s state-of-the-art headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, including the renowned Africa Hall, will serve as the hub for several of the festival’s key events. Notably, Africa Hall holds historical significance as the birthplace of the African Union, having witnessed the signing of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) charter in 1963.

The official opening ceremony of Africa Celebrates 2024 will be held at the Africa Hall, followed by a robust lineup of summits, conferences, and workshops hosted on UNECA premises. Highlights include:

Africa Talks Business & Investment Forum
Tech & Innovation Summit
Women & Youth Forum
Afro Film Alliance
African Traditional Leaders Forum
Wellness & Beauty Africa Expo
Sports & Lifestyle Forum
Africa Fashion Business Forum
Jobs for Africa by Gebeya & Mastercard Foundation
Africa Tourism Day & Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum (ATCAF) 2024

Also included is a special initiative with Deborah Foundation supporting Down Syndrome awareness, reaffirming Africa Celebrates’ commitment to charity.

Other exciting events, such as the Africa Peace Walk & Carnival, the Gala Fashion & Awards Night at Sheraton Addis Luxury Hotel, and the Mega Music Concert, will take place across Addis Ababa, culminating in a grand closing ceremony at the Nelson Mandela Hall of the African Union headquarters.

Africa Celebrates 2024 will emphasize celebrating Africa’s unity in diversity. The festival aims to promote the continent’s rich heritage, arts, culture, trade, and technological advancements, all while fostering intra-African collaboration. Participants will also be encouraged to embrace African-made products, from fashion to film, and from food to music, in a bid to boost economic integration and pride in African craftsmanship.

Another key objective is to empower African women and youth through trade, investment, and tourism initiatives, creating wealth and opportunities across the continent.

Since its inception in 2021, Africa Celebrates has seen tremendous growth. From just 18 participating African nations in its first year, the event expanded to 32 in 2022, and 38 African countries, along with 11 from outside the continent, joined in 2023. This year’s festival promises to be the biggest yet, with an array of events designed to engage and inspire attendees.

Organized by Legendary Gold Limited in collaboration with Mayalz Events Company and Prologue/BCW, Africa Celebrates 2024 boasts a prestigious list of partners, including the African Union Commission, UNECA, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. Diplomatic partners include the embassies of Nigeria, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo Brazzaville, and the U.S. and Moroccan missions to the AU.
