World Tourism Day ’24: Rwanda Amb. Christophe Bazivamo, HRH Steven Thomas, Gov of Africa Diaspora Central Bank

… Visit La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort

As part of the World Tourism Day celebration 2024, foremost African beach resort, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, rolled out the red carpet, to receive international diplomats, who had a great feel of the 65 acres nature’s Paradise, awaiting the much talked about IPADA Carnival celebration 2024.

The Rwanda Ambassador, H.E. Christophe Bazivamo arrived the resort in showers and drizzle of rain, which brought out the luscious vivid colours of the green ecosystem of the entire resort.

He was warmly received by the resort Founder, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, with a well laid out welcome reception, which included a Rwanda song performance by Atunda Entertainment Troupe, a showcase of different African foods from 15 African countries, an African palmwine greeting session, and a grand tour of the different luxury homes at the resort.

His Royal Highness Rex Semako 1 & VI Timothy McPherson, the Governor of Africa Diaspora Central Bank, also arrived moments later, in company of His Royal Highness, Steven Thomas.

The Rwanda Ambassador, apart from having the exclusive opportunity, of the grand inspection of the holiday homes, and the newly constructed additions, in readiness, for the hosting of the world, during the upcoming, IPADA Carnival, slated for November 29th to December 8th 2024, also experienced an elaborate tour, from the Kodis to the Labas, Ilerimi, Oso, Anago, Ilerigi, and the Eti Oso luxury homes to the watersports jetty, the forest area, where the Founder’s camp is, to different activity sport areas, the gym, the spa, the beach front common area, the Lagoon, the Ocean front, and the Oja Africa, where he came face to face with the fishing community, and did a one on one with local fishermen.

It was an exhaustive tour, but all through it, H.E. Ambassador Christophe Bazivamo showed a fitness, that surprised his host Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, as he also took him through part of the carnival trail for IPADA Carnival celebration, as well as the beach space for the Durbar, which will also be a major colourful feature of IPADA Carnival in November and December 2024.

But that wasn’t all, in fulfilment of Tourism Icon, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye’s dream of planting trees for tomorrow’s people, the three world Tourism Day celebration visitors, were also at the beach resort, to plant trees for tomorrow’s people, a project that is now in conjunction with the Nigeria Conservation Society.

And it was an emotional moment for each of the three participating dignitaries, especially after seeing the number of notable personalities from across the world, now known as IPADIANS, coined to represent the Diasporan returnees to Africa, who have heeded the call to return (IPADA) to Africa, and have equally planted trees at the entrance of the resort for tomorrow’s people.

The Rwanda Ambassador said it is a privilege for him to come to plant a tree here in Nigeria, for people who he may or may not see, but know, will benefit from the shade it will provide. He prayed in his language as he planted the tree.

To His Royal Highness Rex Semako 1 & VI Timothy McPherson, the Governor of Africa Diaspora Central Bank, the tree planting exercise is a spiritual rebirth and symbol of unification for all Africans here and in the Diaspora.

As for His Royal Highness Steven Thomas, his speech nearly brought tears to the eyes of everyone at the ceremony, as the collection of his emotional words, went deep down into the soul. He spoke of his freedom, the freedom of Africans from the inhumanity that slave trade was associated with. On his knees, he planted and watered his newly planted tree like the other dignitaries did, the first water to grow the trees that will provide shelter for tomorrow’s people.

Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye assured the Rwanda Ambassador and the visiting African royals, that the trees they have planted, will be labelled in their names, and maintained on their behalf, to fulfill the purpose for which they have been planted.
