Akwa Ibom PDP Elects New State Leadership

Yesterday, September 14, 2024, marked a significant milestone in the political landscape of Akwa Ibom State, as our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), successfully conducted an elective State Congress at the Uyo Township Stadium. This gathering of esteemed delegates from all wards and local government chapters was a testament to the party’s commitment to deepening people’s participation, in line with its deep-seated belief in the tenets of democracy.

With a sense of purpose and unity, the delegates unanimously elected a new 39-member State Executive Committee, led by the indefatigable and visionary Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan as Chairman. This outcome is a resounding affirmation of the party’s trust and confidence in his leadership acumen.

The elective congress, conducted in an atmosphere of peace, transparency, and fairness, was attended by the Leader of our party and Governor of the State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, and the immediate past Governor, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON. Both charged participants on the need to remain peaceful and committed to the party’s ideals.

The exercise saw the emergence of the following individuals to steer the affairs of our great party:

The reinvigorated executive, led by Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, will continue to thrive and deliver on strengthening the gains recorded by the party in the State.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Senator Akon Eyakenyi, PhD; the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong; the Congress Organizing Committee; and indeed the delegates and party faithful, for their unwavering support and confidence in us.

We proudly assert that this new leadership is a blend of experienced and dynamic individuals poised to drive the party’s vision and aspirations to greater heights.
